Based on a classic recipe with a twist, Sloe Road is a light, dry version of a traditional porter. Malty, roasted chocolate hints give way to a crisp, refreshing finish. The addition of wild foraged sloes adds earthy bitterness and notes of autumnal fruit.
The fruit of the Blackthorn tree, sloes are one of the few wild foods that come into season at the start of the winter – sparks of life as the nights draw in. Often used to flavour gin, in this beer they add hints of deep fruit flavour, natural bitterness and a slight purple tint to the colour.
